Spike Lee calls out Tyler Perry

In this clip, Spike Lee refers to the films of Tyler Perry as "coonery and bufoonery" and though I tend to agree (only sometimes because you gotta admit Tyler Perry's ish is entertaining), isn't this a classic case of Black professionals battling when they should be working together? Seriously, a wise man told me not to argue with fools because people from a distance won't know who's who? Spike Lee, Tyler Perry...who's who?

  1. I think that Spike has raised some valid points in the discussion. I have gone to see both of their works. They deal on two etirely different ends of the spectrum in their films. One of the things that I find to be rather predictable about Tyler's work is the formula that he uses to build a story around. While it has been profitable for him-when is he going to take a risk and do something different? That is one of the things about Spike's work that always stands out. You may be familiar with the story line-but he has that knack of delivering the familiar with a good set of twists.

I have watched the House of Payne. It is not a sitcom that has been able to lure me as a regular viewer. I don't find it to be that kind of television show.
